May is “Bike Month” and here in San Antonio, we’re doing it up royal. Well, maybe I shouldn’t say “royal” considering the recently concluded “Fiesta” and Fiesta Royalty. Maybe I should use a different expression, because San Antonio is doing a very real job of promoting personal activity in the area.
Led in part by the Mayor’s Fitness Council, there is a full agenda of activities scheduled for May and if you’re in the San Antonio area and in at least average (which is way too low in my opinion) health, you really have no legitimate excuse to not participate in some way.
You can use this link SA Biking and Walking Events to see some of the things going on here this month. And if you aren’t in San Antonio, you should be able to find something similar in your area. And if you can’t, then maybe it’s up to you to create an event or hold your elected officials feet to the fire to get something started. Bike Texas has been a great organization to promote biking in the State of Texas. Maybe your state has a similar organization that needs your support to make it better known. I’m constantly urging people to be both active, and an activist. Biking and promoting biking, is a good place to start.
